Yabluniv bridge is being repaired

The PBS company is carrying out repair works on Yabluniv bridge. The ferry over 50 meters long, connects the villages of Yabluniv and Kosiv. This is the only bridge that allows travelling by P-24 to Verkhovyna and Kosiv, connecting two regions.

"The bridge has been longing for repairs for 10 years. There were holes as deep that cars reached the asphalt with underpans, wheels couldn't stand to it. And when bigger trucks crossed the bridge, it seemed to me that everything would just crumble down", - says Ivan, a local resident.
The PBS road builders cut the old asphalt coating off the bridge. The next step will be applying the top asphalt layer.

"This is one of the worst bridges we had to repair. We will apply a small layer of asphalt, as we want to make this entire construct a bit lightweight. We're going to avoid putting a lot of load onto the foundation. It's in a bad shape", - PBS experts.
According to Dmytro Siredzhuk from "UKROP", the Yabluniv bridge is not the only one needing repairs, in Kosiv region.

"We have several emergency-state bridges, all waiting for recovery from the 2008 year flood. The one in Yabluniv was really a big wreck. Thanks to current repairs, it may still serve the people and pose no threats to vehicles. Of course, it needs bigger-scale repairs. We'll see what else we can do to help", - Dmytro Siredzhuk.
