Oleksandr Shevchenko: new detour rings and half-rings will help in overspeed prevention

Good highways are high speed ones. With the restoration of roads, the overspeed problem became even more relevant. It is possible for local importance roads to use force speed reduction means, i.e. "lying policemen". On the other hand, this type of reducement is prohibited for highways and national importance roads. In settlements, traffic lights are viable, though they create inconveniences for drivers, sometimes resulting in traffic jams.

"I have been thinking a lot on the traffic overspeed problem in settlements. Abroad they are being solved more efficiently with detour rings and half-rings. Having such an innovation, we can reduce speed significantly, without making any changes to trafic intensity", - Oleksandr Shevchenko, founder of  Bukovel resort, the people's deputy of Ukraine .

People from PBS are oftenly asked to assist in reducing the traffic speed. According to state regulations, special road signs are the only technical means on national importance roads like Н-10 and Н-09, to deal with "racer-type" drivers. Traffic lights are used less frequently. We at PBS are convincved that ring-shaped detours will prove to be much more effective.

"I will do my best to bring such a perspective trend to our roads, at least those built by the PBS company. I will also lobby the ring-shaped detours innovation further to the national level. I want those detours to be included as mandatory technical condition, to any tender documentation, no matter building or reconstruction ones", - Oleksandr Shevchenko.
